At the age of thirteen Yeshe Lodoy Rinpoche settled in Gomang Datsan of Drepung Monastery. In 1953, like many of his countrymen, he left Tibet for India fleeing from Chinese Communist oppression. From 1959 to 1971, he continued studying Madhyamika, Abhidharma, Vinaya, and Prajna-paramita. In 1963, he was granted the gelong ordination by His Holiness the Dalai Lama. In 1972, he entered Sarnath Buddhist University, India, where he joined the three-year course in Lamrim. Rinpoche successfully completed his studies at the University and was awarded the Acarya degree. Rinpoche headed one of departments at the Library of Tibetan Works and Archives, Dharamsala, India. In 1979, he passed the examination for the Geshe Lharampa degree, indicating the attainment of the highest level of scholarly and spiritual knowledge. In 1992, to the request of Mongolian Buddhists His Holiness the Dalai Lama sent Rinpoche to Mongolia where he taught for one year. In 1993, to meet the request of the Buryat Buddhist clergy His Holiness asked Rinpoche to teach in Buryatia. At Present Yeshe Lodoy Rinpoche is a resident teacher at Tashi Choikhorling Buddhist Institute at the Ivolga Datsan near Ulan-Ude. Ven.Yeshe Lodoy Rinpoche gives teachings and instructions in Buddhist practices to his numerous pupils in Buryatia, the Aghynsky Buryat National District (RF), and many other Russian cities from Vladivostok to St. Petersburg. last update
